Stand For Freedom - Leave The Olympics

Since 9-11-01 the trumpet from our nation has been about freedom and liberty at any cost.  It’s time we put some hustle behind our muscle and stand up for freedom in Tibet.

If we can lose 4000 in Iraq for freedom, sacrifice billions of dollars, then we can sacrifice and not partake in the Olympics this year.  China’s regime is just as much a hindrance to freedom and human rights as Saddam was to Iraq.

Ask anyone in Tibet, question anyone in China and they will tell you, the Communist Chinese government is feared by it’s own citizens.  They know they can be hauled off at any hour of the day for any reason and put in work camps or even put to death for no reason.

America can no longer speak out of both sides of their mouth.  We can’t yell freedom and liberty to justify a war in Iraq while we hold our noses and look the other way for China.  The world is watching.

Why leave it at the Olympics? Let’s see some trade tarrifs, let’s end China’s “most favored nation” status. Loans from China that are financing the war in Iraq… the Chinese are more than happy to loan our own money back to us. And the Wal-Martization of America contributes to the travesty.

Indeed, it is high time we stopped kissing China’s ass.

I concur. I’m tired of them flooding our market with garbage and toxic tainted products (and our gov’t allowing it). I’m tired of how the Chinese people are treated by their own supposedly “by the people” government- thousands in virtual slave labor in factories owned by major American corporations *cough, cough*Walmart*coughcough* (and our gov’t allowing it). I’m tired of us tossing China’s salad while the communist regime vilifies the Dalai Lama, who is a true icon of lovingkindness and peace. How many of *their* leaders have won a Nobel Peace Prize? But he’s a devil in monk’s robes and stirs up violent unrest. Riiiiiight.

    Free Tibet!

Sorry but I have to disagree. America did not withdraw from the Olympics during either WW2 or the cold war. In both those cases we were open hostile with both governments who had turned the games into nationalist hype whereas at present China is one of America’s biggest financial supporters. If we didn’t boycott then, we shouldn’t now.
And on your point Rebecca if your want the virtual slave labor (which realy is what it is) to end then you shouldn’t be pointing your finger at the Chinese but at our own government which does nothing to regulate the ethics of how American companies operate over seas.
